Job Description:
Duties--- Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the
operations flight ensuring security and law enforcement functions
comply with legal/regulatory requirements and meet customer
needs.--- Exercises supervisory personnel management
responsibilitiesDirects, coordinates, and oversees work through
subordinate supervisors, flight chiefs, and section chiefs.---
Represents the Security Forces Squadron with a variety of
installation and functional area organizations.--- Performs and
enforces the full range of police officer duties within the Maxwell
AFB.--- This position will support the Federal Government's
response to efforts to COVID-19Requirements Conditions of

aircraft.--- This position has been designated by the Air Force as
a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian
Drug Demand Reduction ProgramEmployee must pass initial and
periodic short notice drug testing.--- Illegal drug use by
employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the
mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.---
This position is emergency-essentialIn the event of a crisis
situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to
perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper
authority.--- The incumbent or the designated alternate may be
required to take part in readiness exercises.--- This position
cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without
seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function
effectively.--- This meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential
position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated
alternate, be removed from any military recall statusEmployee must
sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment.--- Lautenberg
Amendment: Position requires access to firearmsPersons convicted of
a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence may not occupy
this position in accordance with the Gun Control Act of 1968, as
amended 30 Sep 96.--- Employee must sign DD Form 2760,
Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition.--- Must pass an
initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical
examinations, required initial and annual physical fitness/physical
agility tests--- to include running, meet established hearing
standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth.--- The incumbent
must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical
threshold shifts in health status and/or medication
requirements.--- Required to obtain and maintain the Secret
security clearance.--- Must wear a uniform and meet applicable
dress and appearance standards as identified in current
AFIQualifications Continued from Conditions of Employment:--- Must
wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic
plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots,
traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.grespirator
mask).--- May occasionally be required to work other than normal
duty hours; to include but not limited to nights, weekends,
holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall.--- Must undergo
initial job compatibility assessment.--- The work requires the
employee to drive a motor vehicleAn appropriate, valid driver's
license is required for the position.--- Must pass formal law
enforcement training school as determined by HAF/A4S and obtain DoD
Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification.---
Required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR
techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and
maintain annually.--- Regular and recurring training is required to
keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized
tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and
response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related
threats to installationsMust successfully complete the Air Force
Civilian Police Supervisor's Course, or approved equivalent.---
Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire
and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive
positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of
time, (e.gEmploying "Active Shooter" response tactics and
techniques as a member of a small team is required.--- Must obtain
and maintain a government travel card.--- This position is
designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507Duties of this position
are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency
operationsMust be removed from their military recall status if
alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not
available.--- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing
a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted
after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full
resumption of all functionsIAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity
ProgramsThis is a Term position NTE 24 Months; the individual
selected for this position may be extended without further
competitionCurrent Federal civilian employees may apply for this
position using "Reinstatement" eligibility and if selected, a break
in service of at least 4 calendar days may be required prior to
appointment to this positionIn order to qualify, you must meet the
specialized experience requirements described in the Office of
Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General
Schedule Positions, to include the Individual Occupational
Requirements IOR for the GS Police Series 0083SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience
equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which
includes responsibility for the day-to-day operations, planning,
administration, supervision, and direction of squadron
personnelDeveloping policies and procedures for accomplishment of
assigned security and law enforcement organizational missionFEDERAL
TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS)
POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable
time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligibleOne year at the
GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for
the GS-10 levelTIG applies if you are in a current GS position or
held a GS position within the previous 52 weeksKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,
AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the
basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or
competencies in the following areas:--- Knowledge of law
enforcement, security, and anti-terrorism theories, principles,
methods, techniques, and practices to establish policies and
procedures and administer a comprehensive security/law enforcement
protection programKnowledge of safety and security regulations,
practices, and procedures.--- Ability to plan, organize, and direct
the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an
organization through subordinate supervisors operating under
stressful and dangerous conditions.--- Ability to analyze, plan,
and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments
to meet program requirements and objectives within available
resources.--- Ability to formulate and effectively implement
special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for
enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing
unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements
are enforced.--- Ability to communicate both orally and in
writing.--- Knowledge of the tactics, techniques, and procedures
necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events,
enemy attacks, and related threats to installationsPOLICE OFFICER
CERTIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED UPFRONT: The incumbent
must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications for
the following: Flight Armorer, Active Vehicle Barrier, National
Crime Information Center (NCIC), Emergency Management Systems,
Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS), Standardized Field
Sobriety Test (SFST), Security Forces Management Information System
(SFMIS), Air Force Justice Information System (AFJIS), Evidence
Management Portal (EMP), Evidence Management Collection Exchange
(ECMX), Explosive Detection Device (EDD), Defense Data Exchange
(DDEX), authoritative databases, Small Unmanned Aircraft System
(SUAS), electronic booking stations, speed measurement devices,
non-lethal weapons (e.gneuromuscular incapacitating device (NMID),
baton, etc.)POLICE OFFICER CERTIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED AFTER EOD: Must complete the following duty position
evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be
successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in
AFI 31-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization
Evaluation ProgramThe DPE qualifications must occur in this order;
(1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response
Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center
Controller/DispatcherPART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be
given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time workYou must clearly
identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and
the total number of hours per weekVOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers
to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done
